OBD, hardwired or portable

The way a tracker installs matters more than most people expect. The mount decides how easily the device comes off, whether it needs charging, and what data it can reach.

Three options cover almost every small business. The right one depends on the vehicle and who drives it.

Running more than a handful of vehicles? This is a full platform rather than a tracker. Fuel logs, route optimization, Electronic Logging Device support, driver scoring, and dashboards that feel like a control room. Accounting software connects to it too.

6. Azuga

The safety-focused option. Monthly plans, decent refresh rates, driver scoring with rewards, and reports that do not need a training course. Good for small crews who care about safety without paying enterprise prices.

Consent and privacy, before you fit anything

You are tracking for safety and dispatch, not for surveillance. Handle the disclosure badly, though, and it looks like the second one.

Tell your team in writing before tracking starts. One clear line covers it: this vehicle is GPS tracked for safety, dispatch and theft recovery. Keep the signed acknowledgment.

Personal phones or tablets are a different question entirely. Get written consent before any tracking app touches a device somebody owns.
